Night Hike

Last night my mom and I went on a Night Hike which is basically what the name says: a hike at night through winding trails in a reserve in the Monteverde Cloud Forest. On our trek we saw loads of different animals. We saw a kinkajou, a tarantula, a scorpion, a toucan, a giant toad, two other cool types of birds, a sloth and even some armadillos. We were given flash lights to use so that we would not stumble on the rocky road and when we encountered some wildlife, we were told to turn off our lights so we would not scare the animals. It was in these moments that I really enjoyed the hike as the sounds of the animals percolated through the night. All in all, we had an amazing time spotting the wildlife hidden in the darkness and we will never forget it.

Anoche, mi mama y yo fuimos en un Excursion de Noche que es basicamente que el nombre dice: un excurcion en la noche atraves de senderos sinuosos en una reserva en la Selva de Nublados de Monteverde. En nuestra caminata, vemos muchos tipos diferentes de animales. Vemos un kinkajou, una tarantula, una escorpion, una toucan, un sapo gigante, dos otros tipos de pajaro, una pereza y incluso algunos armadillos. Recibimos linternas para usar de modo que no caimos en la calle muy desigual y cuando descubrimos fauna, necesitamos apagar nuestras linternas por lo que no fuimos a asustar los animales. Fueron estes momentos que yo disfrute la excursion porque solamente pudimos oir sonidos de los animales en el oscuridad. Nosotros tuvimos un tiempo extraordinario manchado la fauna en el oscuridad y no vamos a olvidarlo.

The Bat Cave

Yesterday, after our first day of classes, my mom and I decided to check out the Bat Cave in Monteverde. It was a very interesting tour; we learned about different types and species of bats, what they eat and how they survive. Our guide also explained how adept the bats' sense of hearing is and then showed us a giant pair of bat ears which are used to demonstrate how keen their sense of sound actually is. My favorite part was definitely the cave itself where we could actually see all the bats eating. We could also hear all of the bats talking with echo-location by a machine that can pick up sounds on a very high frequency. We even saw a bat giving birth which was very interesting. It was a really fun experience and we both enjoyed it.

El dia pasado, despues de nuestras primer clases, mi mama y yo fuimos a la Cueva de Murcielagos en Monteverde. Fue una gira muy interesante; apredimos sobre los tipos diferentes de murcielagos, que ellos comen, y como ellos sobre vivir. Nuestra guia nos explico como perito el sentido de la oracion de los murcielagos es y entonces, el mostro un par de orejas de murcielagos enormes que es usando para mostrar la oracion de estos animales. Mi parte favorito fue la cueva donde pudemos ver murcielagos comiendo. Tambien pudieron oir estos animales hablando con ecolocalizacion de un maquina que puede captar sonidos en una frequencia muy alta. Incluso vimos un murcielago dar la luz y fue muy interesante. Fue una experiencia muy divertido y mi mama y yo la disfrutamos mucho.

Escuela

Yesterday my mom and I started classes at CPI which is the name of our school. We both took placement tests and were put into separate classes. Lucky for me, there was no one in my group so I get to have private lessons which is really nice. The campus of our school is also very neat. There is a gym, gardens and even a jacuzzi! We also receive a free traditional Costa Rican snack which is prepared by the schools cooks. Delicioso! We are learning a lot and even though we do have to do homework, we are having fun.

El dia pasado mi madre y yo empecemos clase a CPI que es el nombre de nuestra escuela. Hicimos un examen de colocacion y nos pudieron en clases differentes. Yo tengo bueno suerte porque nadie es en mi clase y por eso, recibo lecciones privadas. El campus de la escuela es muy bonito y interesante tambien. Hay un gimnasio, jardines, incluso una jacuzzi! Tambien recibimos una merienda tipica de Costa Rica y es gratis! Que Sueno! Estamos apredando mucho y aunque necesitamos hacer tarea, nos divertimos.

The Drive to Monteverde

Yesterday, my mom and I were picked up at 9:45 and we set out for Monteverde in a big white van. It wasn't the most...pleasant of rides which my mom can definitely speak to. The entire way was an enormous series of bumps and jumps in the road which had the van rocking us back in forth; kind of like playing "jello" involuntarily. Despite the bumpy roads, we were offered some amazing views. We could see lots of different shades of green displayed on the mountains and witnessed the clouds kissing their peaks. It was an exciting ride and we both enjoyed it (Well...at least I did. Mom almost threw up!)

El dia pasado, mi madre y yo empiezamos a ir a Monteverde en una camioneta muy grande y blanco. No fue el mas...tranquilo de viajes. La calle tenia muchos golpes y saltos que hizo la camioneta influye atras y hacia adelante; similar a jugando "jello" solo involuntariamente. A pesar de las calles golpeadas, podemos ver algunas vistats increibles. Hubo muchas differentes tipos de verde y los nublados eran besando.Fue un viaje emocionante y nosotros lo disfrutamos mucho (Por lo menos yo lo hice. Mi madre casi vomita!)

Arrival in Costa Rica

Yesterday my mom and I flew to San Jose, Costa Rica. We had a two and a half hour flight but it passed quickly. When we arrived at the airport, a guy from our school was waiting to pick us up and bring us to a "B&B" (bed and breakfast according to mother). Once we had arrived at our hotel, we went to a small restaurant down our street, called "Pollo Chepe Crunsh". The menu had cheeseburgers, enchiladas, fish, chicken and more. I ordered a cheeseburger with fries and a peach-flavored iced tea. My mom tried to order some chicken enchiladas but she mis-read the spanish menu and ended up with chicken fingers and BBQ sauce. Silly Mommy! We relaxed all day and can't wait to commence school in the Monteverde Cloud Forest on the 'morrow.

El dia pasado, mi mama y yo viajamos en avion a San Jose, Costa Rica. Nuestro vuelo fue dos horas y media pero lo pasea rapido. Cuando llegamos en el aeropuerto de San Jose, un hombre de nuestra escuela nos trajio a un "B&B" (una cama y desayuno). Despues que llegabamos al hotel, mi mama y yo fuimos a un restaurante pequeno en nuestra calle. El restaurante se llama "Pollo Chepe Crunsh". Hubo hamburguesas, enchiladas, pescado, pollo, y mas. Yo pedi una hamburguesa con queso con papas fritas y un te helado de melacoton. Mi mama trato pedir enchiladas de pollo pero ella no puede leer espanol muy bien y por eso, ella como una plata de pollo y salsa de BBQ. Comica Mama! No podemos esparar para ver nuestra escuela en la Selva de Nublados en Monteverde manana.

Xel-Ha

Yesterday, my relatives and I paid a visit to the magnificent park called Xel-Ha (a Mayan word pronounced shell-ha). Xel-Ha is well know for all of its amazing snorkeling spots where there are incredible varieties of tropical fish. But that wasn't all of the park. We also raced down three different zip-lines and dropped into the crystal clear water below. The two spots for cliff-diving also caught my attention as I enjoyed plummeting into the river. One of the highlights was floating through the mangroves on a giant lazy river on inflatable inner tubes. All in all, it was a really fun day!

El dia pasado, mi mama, mis familiares y yo visitamos el parque de Xel-Ha. Este parque es famoso para sus puntos de esnorquelando increibles donde hay muchos tipos de pescados differentes. Pero fue mas de este en Xel-Ha. Tambien hubo tres tirolesas diferentes que diparante en el agua abajo. Los dos puntos donde puedes zambullirseen de un acantilado fueron muy divertido tambien. Me gusto este attraccion mucho. Ademas, hubo un lazy river increible a traves de los manglares del Xel-Ha. Este attraccion te flota en el entero rio en inflables tubos interiores. Fue un dia muy divertido!

Cancun

Finally! I have finished with my never-ending Math course and now it is onto sweet vacation in Cancun Mexico! I have been chillin' by the pool and swimming in the clear blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Unfortunately the wi-fi at our resort is terrible so I have to keep my posts short and sweet. We are having lots of fun and I look forward to your responses.

Finalmente! Termine con mi curso de matematica y ahora puedo relajarse cerca de la piscina y la playa. El agua del Gulfo de Mexico es el mas claro azul y tambien hace caliente. El wi-fi a nuestra hotel es terible y por eso, necesito escribir mensajes bastante cortas. Estoy emocionante para leer sus respuestas.
